ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS

A CHILD'S CHRISTMAS WISH

Once upon a time, a long time ago, there was a little girl who had a secret wish. She watched all the traditional Christmas movies and specials that expressed children who wished to they could stay awake to see Santa on Christmas Eve and their wish came true.
Every Christmas Eve, she rushed to dress for bed and hurried to sleep because her mother told her that Santa never comes while little children are awake so if she wants Santa to come, she had better go to sleep. The little girl would fall asleep with a small radio by her to hear the radio disc jockey report Santa's where-abbots every hour.
She wished so badly that she could wake up in the middle of the night and walk out to catch Santa putting presents under the Christmas tree.
One special Christmas Eve the little girl rushed to bed as she always did and hurried to sleep so that Santa could come. That midnight, she woke up as if to go to the bathroom. She walked out of her bedroom, but instead of turning towards the bathroom she walked out into the living room. Her mother saw her standing in the entrance of the living room staring at the Christmas tree. Her mother tried to motion her to turn around and go back to bed but the little girl did not move. Her mother walked over to her and turned her around, but before she did, the little girl's eyes fell to the foot of the tree where she saw Santa kneeling down, placing presents under the tree.
The next morning the little girl woke up. She was not sure if she had dreamed it all. She said to her mother, "I don't know if I dreamed this or not but I thought I woke up in the middle of the night and walked out into the Living room."
Her mother said, "You didn't dream it, you did come out into the living room last night. I couldn't get you to go back into your room so I had to turn you around and send you back to your room.
The little girl said, "I saw Santa."
"What was he doing?" her mother asked.
"He was putting presents under the tree."
"You're the third person in our family to see Santa," her mother explained. " I too saw Santa in the same way. One of your aunts on my side of the family saw him too."
"But I thought no one is supposed to see Santa," the little girl said, confused.
"No one is supposed to see Santa," her mother said. "You're just one of the lucky ones."
When the little girl grew up and learned the truth, she asked her mother about that special Christmas. "But I saw Santa."
"I remember everything about that night," her mother explained. "You walking out into the living room and me having to turn you around. I even remember you were wearing a little cotton nightgown. But that was your father under the tree, not Santa."
"Was dad dressed like Santa?"
"No," her mother replied.
"But I saw Santa."
"You wanted to see Santa so bad that God let you see what you wanted to see."
