STEWARDSHIP SKIT

Characters- God, and a Man or a Woman
Props- A chair ( Table- optional ) Sheets of Paper or old bills
__________________________________________________
SCENE OPENS

(Man or woman is sitting on a chair going through the bills. )

( THE VOICE OF GOD IS TO COME FROM A PLACE OUT OF VIEW OF THE AUDIENCE )

PERSON- What do I pay this week and what do I put off till next pay day? It seems like my bills come to more than my paycheck provides.

( PERSON LETS OUT A SIGH OF FRUSTRATION )

PERSON- Lord, I need your help! You said you would never allow more to come on me than I can handle. Why aren't you helping me with my bills?

GOD- You never asked me for help. Had you asked me, I would have given you a guideline to follow.

( THE PERSON IS PUZZLED )

PERSON- What guidelines?

GOD- If you would spend more time in my word, you would see, I've designed a specific way for you to handle the money I place in your trust.

PERSON- But I'd like to spend more time reading your word, I just don't have the time to spare. My job and my family place so many demands on me. And then the chores around the house. I barely have time to unwind before going to bed.

GOD- My word says that I know what you need before you ask me. But seek first my kingdom and its righteousness and I will add all the rest unto you.

PERSON- But you don't understand Lord. Have you seen the kind of bills I have to pay? I should take a second job just to pay them on time.

( PERSON STANDS. PACES AND SHUFFLES THE BILLS IN HIS/HER HANDS )

GOD- Think about all the things you have. Do you really need all of them or do you just want them?

PERSON- but I have to have something to make this life I'm living joyful.

GOD- Much of the things you have are placing a great burden on you instead of bringing you joy. Wouldn't you rather have peace of mind then bills you can't pay?

PERSON- Yes, of course.

GOD- Then let go of the things you can do without and organize the payments of the things you really need.

PERSON- OK, then what?

GOD- Put me first in all you are steward of. Your money, time and talents, and I will help you keep all the rest in order.

( PERSON SITS DOWN )

PERSON- But, that seems so simple.

GOD- It is simple. That's why most people don't follow my guidelines. For some, it seems too simple. For others, they love worldly things and pleasures more than me. Remember, anything you put before me, becomes your god.

PERSON- Can you help me do all you said with the things you've given me?

GOD- Of course. All it takes is a little spiritual wisdom. My word also says, if you lack wisdom, ask of me and I will give freely of my Holy Spirit to all who ask.

( PERSON BREATHES A SIGH OF RELIEF )

PERSON- Thank you Lord. I feel so much better now that we've had this talk.

GOD- Me too. We should have these talks more often.
